Celebrating 100 Years At RCC – Golf, Community, and Legacy at Reedsburg Country Club
As the fairways turn green each spring, Reedsburg Country Club prepares for another season of championship golf, unforgettable gatherings, and lifelong memories. But this year is extra special — we’re celebrating 100 years at RCC and, with it, honoring a legacy of tradition, transformation, and community that began back in 1924.
From a modest 9-hole course conceived by local golf enthusiasts to a thriving semi-private club with a world-class 18-hole course, banquet facilities, and a vibrant member community, RCC has withstood the test of time. As we reflect on our journey and look ahead to the future, we’re excited to share the stories, milestones, and celebrations that define this centennial year.
The Beginning: 1924 and a Vision for Community
Celebrating 100 years at RCC means looking back to where it all began. In 1924, a group of passionate Reedsburg residents came together to build more than just a golf course — they built a destination for connection, recreation, and shared experience. The original 9-hole layout, carved out of rolling terrain, quickly became a treasured gathering place for friends, families, and business leaders.
It didn’t take long for the club to grow in both popularity and purpose, becoming an essential part of life in Reedsburg. Generations of members have learned the game, hosted celebrations, and created traditions that continue to live on today.
Growth, Challenges, and Renewal
In 1977, RCC underwent a significant transformation when golf course architects Killian and Nugent expanded the course to 18 holes, blending natural beauty with challenging design. This expansion marked an essential step in our history — elevating the playing experience and attracting golfers from across the region.
The clubhouse, too, saw its share of changes. Initially built as a simple gathering space, the original facility underwent multiple expansions in the 1970s to better serve a growing membership and increased event demand.
Following a pesticide incident that caused significant damage to the course’s trees, RCC utilized settlement funds to reinvest in its future. In 2016, we proudly opened a brand-new, 10,000-square-foot clubhouse designed by Architectural Design Consultants, Inc. (ADCI) and constructed by Friede & Associates. The stunning new space includes panoramic golf course views, a full-service restaurant (1924 Bar & Grill), an event-ready banquet hall, and a covered patio with a fire pit — a modern tribute to the past and future we share.
These milestones are cornerstones in the story of celebrating 100 years at RCC — chapters of resilience, vision, and renewal that kept our club strong through every season.
The People Behind the Legacy
At the heart of celebrating 100 years at RCC are the people who made it possible. Founding members. Volunteers. Board leaders. Staff members past and present. Generations of families who called this club their home away from home.
These individuals and their stories have shaped the culture of RCC. Their commitment and passion are what allowed us to evolve while staying true to our roots. As we celebrate this milestone, we honor their legacy and recognize how their efforts continue to impact every round of golf, every event, and every new member who walks through our doors.
A Strategic Shift: Becoming Semi-Private
One of the most pivotal decisions in RCC’s history came in 1994 when the club transitioned from a fully private model to a semi-private golf club. This change allowed RCC to retain its exclusive member benefits while opening up access to the wider Reedsburg community and beyond.
It was a decision that not only expanded our reach but reinforced our core values — creating a space where everyone felt welcome while maintaining excellence in service, course quality, and hospitality. This balance continues to define the RCC experience, especially as we’re celebrating 100 years at RCC.
A Centennial Worth Celebrating
This year, we’re commemorating a century of memories with a full calendar of centennial events, celebrations, and exhibits.
Our Centennial 4th of July Blast brought more than 320 guests together for live music, incredible food, family games, and the most dazzling fireworks show we’ve ever hosted. Historical exhibits are displayed throughout the year, showcasing photos, artifacts, and documents that chronicle the club’s rich history. Special tournaments, themed dinners, and community appreciation events ensure that everyone — from new guests to longtime members — can take part in this celebration.
Beyond the festivities, celebrating 100 years at RCC also includes a renewed focus on sustainability and community outreach. As we honor the past, we’re laying the foundation for the future — through course preservation, youth golf programming, and deeper community partnerships.

This centennial is more than a milestone — it’s a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, who we are, and where we’re headed. It’s about golf, yes — but also about relationships, resilience, and the special kind of magic that happens when a community invests in something greater than itself.
